Anaïs Roesch is a doctoral student in the sociology of art, initiator of the Culture project of The Shift Project. She supervises the international development of Aware (Archives of Women Artits, Research and Exhibitions). She has been working on the crossing of art and ecology stakes for over ten years. In 2015, she worked for the COAL association and produced a festival entirely focused on climate issues during the COP21. Since 2019, she has been involved in the energy transition with the think tank The Shift Project, where she initiated a study on the cultural sector. In 2021, she published the collective work “Décarboner la Culture” (Decarbonisation of culture). She is also working on the issues of gender equality in culture and is preparing a sociology thesis on artists working in the field of ecology at Paris 1.

Béatrice Josse studied Art History and Law before being appointed to the “FRAC” Regional Contemporary Art Fund in Metz (49 Nord 6 Est – Frac Lorraine). There, she added immaterial practices (performances, protocols, etc.) to the collection of art works that she built, giving more space to women artists. Her curatorial practice takes into account different fields of knowledge and is based on a real co-programming with the local players of social and intellectual life. Director of « Magasin à Grenoble” from 2016 to 2021, she moved towards a new definition of the artist’s role in society by offering multidisciplinary projects, as well as professional training open to questions of art and society. She develops the institution, moving away from the classic exhibition center to become, in her words, a “zone of indeterminacy” and renames the Magasin : “Magasin des Horizons”.

Global Climate Day

REGISTER

World Climate Day, created on the initiative of several NGOs, is celebrated every year on December 8th. It aims to remind us of the global warming threat and the need to act and to limit its effects. This theme is perfectly in line with the new vision of the Fondation d’entreprise Martell, which has acknowledged the urgent challenges of the climate transition and is rolling out a program of innovative actions in this direction. It also brings together creators and researchers with this approach, henceforth giving priority to supporting design projects with an ecological transition dimension.
On this occasion, two personalities, Anaïs Roesch and Béatrice Josse are invited to take us through their latest research on how the cultural sector and art takes into account energy and climate stakes. They will outline the options that the cultural world could take to meet the challenge of ecological balance and the “decarbonisation of culture”.
Le Texte libre, an independent associative bookstore in Cognac, will also offer for sale a selection of novels, essays, comics, graphic novels, etc. which question the reader on the issues related to the climate and energy crisis.
