ESIS Prize 2019 (European School Superior of the Image of Angoulême) rewarded by the Fondation d’entreprise Martell of up to 1 500 €, Yvan Guillo alias Samplerman is a virtuoso figure of an alternative comic strip.

This prize, presented as part of the 46th edition of the Angoulême Comic Strip Festival in January 2019, allowed the artist to benefit from an exhibition in the EESI canopy until March 2019 and another exhibition in Cognac.

For the Foundation, he has created a series of compositions from scans of old American comics that adorn the stained glass windows of this new emblematic building in the city of Cognac. Yvan Guillo sample, as a musician. He takes samples, makes a bank of images, then cuts, duplicates, modifies, assembles, and creates new compositions. He exploits in its prolific production the (almost) infinite possibilities of digital collage: multiplication, distortions, metamorphoses, iterations, etc.

On the occasion of the European Heritage Days 2019, the Fondation d’entreprise Martell is putting this installation in the spotlight.

The Foundation will open on special hours for the European Heritage Days:

WORKSHOPS
Samplerman will introduce children and teenagers to the Ninth Art at a workshop, they can create comic strips.
The workshop will be followed by a snack provided by Biocoop.
Open to all public from 8 years, free on reservation (20 participants maximum), lasting about 1h30.
